Description
These were once normal, everyday humans. They still sort of are, but not recognizably so.
See, one day, a few Allodae, being the invasive pricks they are, decided to see if granting immortality to a few humans would make them get along better (that's their excuse, anyway). So an isolated village of about 100 or so lost the ability to die. Well, sort of. The Allodae made the humans immortal by locking their spirits within there bodies, therefore making it impossible for their souls to slip into the Hidden Lands. Unfortunately, the beings forgot about one thing- *aging*. Such a grave oversight would be impossible to us physical creatures, but the Allodae, being mostly ethereal and a tad lazy, forgot. So as the poor villagers aged, their bodies deteriorated, they all eventually ended up in the hellish state of being trapped in a body made up of immobile rotten muck, dust, and bones.
It was not until the rancid pangs of tortured souls grew loud enough to reach the Allodae decades later that they realised their mistake. Unable to free the souls, they congealed the remnants into a kind of thick paste and fused them with what are now *phyiscally immortal* bodies. So here they are now, two-layered, with the blue upper part consisting of the original body and the lower (with little grabby arms) technically alive layer allowing them mobility and sensation.
The bodies can be bipedal or quadrapedal for long-distance running. Claws are on the tips of the fingers rather than the tops of the ends. The teeth poke through haphazardly as there's no real definition of an upper jaw. When it opens its mouth, it's like pulling taffy apart. Yum!
As the immortal mantikliks don't really need anything to survive and are utterly creepy, not to mention spiritually deranged (they also drip rot when it gets hot, ew) , they're abandoned to the harshest, emptiest lands around Plus. Feelings toward them very from pity to extreme revulsion. The mantikliks oventhusiastic approach to strangers due to *extreme* boredom can often be mistaken for aggression.
